This executive style property was completed in the summer of 2019. GreenCoat PLX was used as a zinc alternative, as the zinc originally specified was in excess of the developer’s budget. The designer had already specified zinc and had this drawn up ready for the installer to begin. On pricing the project, it was clear that the zinc cladding was pushing the budget beyond what was realistic.

Moving away from the zinc cladding which was originally specified was both technically and financially easy for the developer.

The project was completed in 2019 and the property was immediately sold by the developers at a price which was higher than expected.

“We were pleased that we made the switch from zinc to GreenCoat PLX. It was no extra work for our designer’s installer, and the savings helped get the project back on track after some unexpected groundwork costs. GreenCoat PLX looks no different from the original zinc and we will now be using it on any future projects with zinc style metal cladding.”

This is a new build barn-style property, developed as part of a small private estate of only five properties just outside Oxford.

Each property was built to exceptionally high standards, with this barn-style home being the only building clad in metal.

GreenCoat PLX was used for the curved barrel-vaulted roof, adding to the uniqueness of the final appearance. GreenCoat PLX can easily be curved to even a very tight radius for almost any barrel-vaulted or curved roof installation.

Harry and Briony Anscombe were keen to build a modern family home overlooking a beautiful Cornwall valley. They were inspired by the house that was featured in the cult film ‘Ferris Buellers Day Off.’ Read about this properties’ press coverage in the Sun newspaper here. This house, although designed in the fifties by American architect A. James Speyer, was the inspiration for Harry and Briony. The uncluttered look, both inside and out, was the ultimate goal.

Along with their three children, Harry and Briony relocated from London to North Cornwall to oversee the build of this large five-bedroom home. For the standing seam roof, they chose Lindab GreenCoat PLX, supplied by The Metal Roof Company. This choice of material perfectly matched the Lindab guttering and helped keep to the modern and simple design that the couple wanted.

Integral to the modern roof design was a flush fit low profile roof light that integrated with the standing seam roof panels set out at 500 mm widths. The initial choice for this West London Primary School was zinc cladding, until GreenCoat PLX in Anthracite RAL 7016 was presented to the Irish architect. The PLX colour had instant appeal as it not only offered huge cost savings compared to pre-aged Zinc, but it also matched the specified windows and doors.

The detailing, build -up and installation of this angled seam cladding looked no different to the specified Zinc details. Use of GreenCoat PLX instead of Zinc allowed the project to proceed with no delays for either the architects, developers or expert metal roofing contractors.

Graven Hill, Oxford, is a village that, once completed, will enjoy a unique community spirit. This location is Europe’s largest self-build housing project, comprising of self-build, ready-built, luxury apartments and social housing. This scheme at Bicester will already be known to viewers of Channel 4’s TV programme, Grand Designs, The Street.

This self-build house was clad using GreenCoat PLX in Anthracite colour (RAL 7011), matched with Lindab gutters and downpipes.
